When I try to install Unreal Engine 4 I get 'A file access error has occurred. Please check your running processes.'

We have seen issues with McAffee in the past.

If you are using McAffee as your antivirus solution uninstalling it will be necessary. Please note that this may leave your system vulnerable to malware and it is suggested that another anitivirus software be installed in its place.

If McAffee is not installed (or has been removed) and you continue to receive the error, it is possible software remnants from the McAffee package are still causing a conflict. Please try the following steps:

Search google for “McAffe Consumer Product Removal Tool” or “MCPR.exe”.
Run MCPR.exe (http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe )
Search google for “Microsoft Fix it 50842” or “MicrosoftFixit50842.msi”.
Run “MicrosoftFixit50842.msi” (Bing )
Reboot

Well I am getting errors using both applications which I don’t think you will be able to solve since you aren’t working with either company of them. I think I only have two options right now: 1.Move to Unity. 2.Download a .zip of Unreal Engine.

Errors using which applications? Can you attach screenshots of the errors?

Also, can you please attempt to send your full debug logs again using these steps? The logs you provided previously are the standard logs and do not contain as much detail as the debug logs.

Thank you for the logs. It appears that the launcher is not being run with admin privledges based on the following log entries:

[2015.11.28-15.40.20:319][ 0]LogInit: WinPlatform: User is admin: true
[2015.11.28-15.40.20:330][ 0]LogInit: WinPlatform: Process ran as admin: false
[2015.11.28-15.40.20:330][ 0]LogInit: WinPlatform: Process is elevated: false

Please right click on the launcher icon and select “Run As Administrator”.
