UNWRAP / TEXTURING STEPS - QUESTIONS

Hello guys,

I have few questions about the unwrap / texturing steps. I found many posts about it like these ones :

https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360011270552-Sweet-view-texture-resolution-inconsistency

https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000780831-how-to-get-best-texture-quality-

https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000778271-Export-32768-or-larger-texture-

And to be honest I feel myself as a beginner to understand the full workflow.

I mean about the unwrap styles (maximal or fixed texel), the optimal texel size, and more…

But to go further, I would like to know what are the best settings for the following project :

Inside a very large church, I need to capture the main room. But there are 3 statues in the middle of the room. This is for a Virtual Reality project, and the main point of view is in front of these statues.

I need to export the most details as I can from this point of view. I used LiDAR and Photogrammetry (from the ground and on the balconies).

Here is my problem (or my question), RC used photos from a far distance instead of the nearest to texture the statues. I can deactivate Tx for each one (the farests) but I would like to keep the full model textured.

In fact I would like to get a different level of details (clear and acceptable for an overview of the church and then more precise and detailled on the statues) on the same model. Do you think it’s possible?

In the other way, I will create another project only for the statues, but this is not what I am looking for…

I will use some texture count to create and export UDIM, but for the moment the texture on the statues is blurred. My texel size is about 0.0016, texture count is 8, texture quality is 90% and texture resolution is 16k.

I hope my description is clear, thank you!

Hello Jerome

Regarding texture, RC sometimes does not display the full texture resolution in sweet render mode. RC is trying to fit them to GPU, max one 16K texture (or 4 8K textures, 16 4K textures, etc.). Therefore, the displayed texture can be at lower resolution than the calculated one.
Is it blurry also when you create ortho projection or export it?

You can try as well to decrease - Weight In texturing for pictures of the further parts of the church.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay.

So you were right about the display. I mean the ortho projection is a bit clearer than the viewer. But for sure the best workflow for this kind of project is to make many reconstructions of your assets because it is a huge place (and to work with UDIM in my case). Then merge the different assets into your favorite 3D App.

Thank you!
