I’ve been reading thread for a while now, I just don’t understand what your all arguing about.
it is simple, you have a talent, cratering models, textures, blueprints, or whatever, why not use it and earn money. it doesn’t matter if people do or do not know how to do the thing you are selling, all that matter is there value in it for someone.
I’m not connected to the game industry so I can only put into my line of work. I am a electrician, in my job I have very complex things to do and very simple thing to do, I have 10 electricians, yet our company hires cheaper labour to do the simpler tasks, why it’s cheaper and more cost affective, all the electrician I have are very capable of doing the simple tasks, but why pay someone $60 hour to do a simple task when I can pay some ells $30 a hour to do the same thing, then I free up my labour to do work that they are more suited to making a more efficient and cost affective
same as the marketplace. it shouldn’t matter if it take someone 5 minutes to crate something or it is a very simple task, all that should matter is it valuable to someone?, will it save someone time and or money?. if the answer is no to the 2 of them, than your wasting your time. there seems to be a lot of people complain about what is on the marketplace, rather being negative about it why not look at it as a new opportunity, why don’t you use your skills and crate products that each of you can uses and sell that. buy the look of it there seems to be a demand of it.
or look at my very stupid example
- you need trees for your game, you get payed $40 a hour
- there is a tree pack that is for sale for $60 on the market places
- can you crate the tree pack for less then $60
- if no and the quality is good, then buy the tree pack. if yes the then the pack is too expensive.
also I am what you call a hobbits, I cant do half the thing you guys can do, I always looking at the marketplace when new stuff comes out to see what is useful to me. every one has different motivation in buying things, I buy stuff to see how people do things. other person buys the same thing for anther reason, and the end of the day who care why people buy a product,
if had the skills i would be selling heaps is stuff on the market place.
