unrealEngineLauncher has stopped working

every time I try to start unreal engine I get this error:

unrealEngineLauncher has stopped working

I have windows 7 SP1 64 bits, and a Quadro FX 3500

any ideas why?

thank you very much

this is my error loglink text

Have you tried making sure you have the latest drivers from nvidia for your Quadro? We’ve seen that error before but not eveytime you launch. Worth a shot though

Hi Swifty,

I have updated the drivers yesterday but it didn’t help.

Howdy Swifty,

I have closed a similar issue that had some information that may be beneficial to this question: https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/73562/unrealenginelauncher-has-stopped-working-1.html

Thanks Sean.

Luizelias, I’m afraid I haven’t managed to come up with anything else to try other than perhaps seeing if re-installing directx runtime might help? Did you have any issues with the directx install from the msi?

The installer will be next to the launcher:-
C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\DirectXRedist

You dont have access to a different / newer gfx card to try by any chance do you?

Hi Swifty,

directx installs fine, I dont get any error durint installation.
I don’t have other video card now to test but if it’s the only way to make it work I will get a new one,

thank you

Hi luizelias,

Although we cannot be certain, an upgraded video card is very likely to help you out. Especially if you get past the Launcher and into the actual editor, since you would probably find it very difficult to use with your current hardware.

Here is some information for hardware that we recommend to develop with:

Out of curiosity, you may want to try running the Launcher in OpenGL mode to see if that bypasses the crash. You can do this by right-clicking the desktop shortcut, choosing Properties, and at the very end of the Target path, adding: -opengl

Let us know the results if you try this.
