Hi! I’ve just joined the beta programme having been a long time user (in the studio-use sense) of UE4. To tell the truth though, the only feature i’m interested in at the moment is the Blackmagic I/O.
Is the Studio version of UE identical to the standard version with the exception of the Datasmith plugin and exporters or are there other differences?
I’ve been trying to get Blackmagic support running on and off for a few days now using Githib engine builds - some of them have a Blackmagic folder in plugins/media and some don’t - the one that I tried that did had some kind of missing file when I tried to enable the media framework plugin.
Anyway - i’m downloading now and hoping for Blackmagic!
Overall, Unreal Studio is the standard Unreal Engine, plus the Datasmith plugin. (there are some supplemental benefits like the 100 free Substances, or Project Templates, but those are a bit different)
Blackmagic isn’t a part of the Datasmith plugin. Support for Blackmagic will be available soon (with the 4.21 official release) as a downloadable plugin from the Unreal Engine Marketplace.
[Edit] I just had a support response to these topics. The work is in progress …thanks
Hi,
I would like to know if there is really something planned for import dwg via datasmith?
I did some tests with the preview version 1 and 2, and the import for now seems totally inconsistent.
First, you have to close your dwg file before importing it into Ue4 otherwise the Unreal editor crash . UE4CCWindows3B9FC4994BBC16AC26CE4980C072E78C_0000.zip
Then the placement in space of the imported objects is not respected.
These concerns have already been reported on the bug submission platform.
