Unreal engine has stopped working on my computer for a while now. I really need it working for my study next month.
When I open Unreal Engine it starts to load but once it reaches 100%, it comes up with the following error code:
“GPU crashed or D3D device removed. Check log for GPU share information”.
I have eliminated a number of possibilities but cannot find a solution. It doesn’t appear to be:
Uninstall/Reinstalled a number of times with different versions
has uptodate Graphics Video Card drivers
has uptodate OS
is a proper gaming laptop - it was working for most of last year.
it isn’t an antivirus problem
firewall has had Unreal Engine added so it can’t be blocking it
not to do with RivaTunerStatisticsServer
I also have a problem with Maya opening - with its error msg it indicates a problem with the DLL libraries - could this be related to my problem with Unreal Engine?
Is there anything else that I can check?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
hello sounds like you might have a memory leak or a possible corrupted file maybe you have multiple of the same files or accidently have archiving on which is a great thing to have on but sometimes it will archive files and maybe you forgot that you had it on and maybe since you said its been a year it would make sense your version of unreal engine is have you tryed reseting your computer or removing all traces of unreal and any duplicated files because if you have duplicated files thats a potential memory leak which will sometimes throw all types of errors that are unexpected do you have the latest driver update for your graphics card.
Hey there @Peter_M-J! Welcome to the community! The issue is definitely graphical in nature. Hopefully it isn’t hardware related since it’s a laptop. If possible, could you install the editor symbols, repeat the crash, then post the log here?
