Any word on AI Perception component being fully exposed to Blueprints? Would love to make use of “lose sight radius” and other options that regular pawn sensing component doesn’t have! (or is “on perception updated” blueprint event enough to do just that?- mabye I haven’t looked into it well enough).

update info for AIPerceptionComponent doesn’t allow you to retrieve status of a sense yet. I’m going to try and sort that out and submit a pull request sometime in next week or so, as I need it for my own work.

Ah yeah, hopefully it gets added soon- love basic pawn sensing component, with extra features that Perception component adds, it would be perfect!

I mentioned on Twitch stream about a feature that was mentioned back during GDC having to do w/ engine handling converting a high poly mesh to low poly automatically. You said if I was able to find it, you’d check in regarding it and if there are any plans in future for this to be an engine feature.
When going through some GDC footage, I found it buddy!

This would be massive if possible in future and really eliminate a lot of production needed getting new models into engine.

It seems to actually be related to refractive panner window material I had on several meshes- I can copy/duplicate any number of regular meshes, but only seems to happen when that refractive material is applied!

Unfortunately there hasn’t been any immediate activity on this particular bug report as our resources are currently dedicated elsewhere. I do not have a timeframe of when it will be addressed. I am adjusting community interest portion to show that more users have been affected by this particular bug.

I know its not recommended to use 4.8 preview for serious **** but there’s some life saving features that i desperately need which is only found in 4.8 preview 4.

Have you tried right-clicking cast node and hit “Refresh node”
I also noticed that function nodes dont refresh properly in some cases when parameter/outputs change…
A refresh of node usually fixes it.

I’m struggling with shaders compiling in 4.8… It’s painfully slow…
It takes way more than an hour to compile from 500. Never seen such a slow compiling in any previous release.
worst thing is that it consumes almost all resources of my pc making it almost unsusable.
I searched online but haven’t find anything usefull to solve or at least improve a little compiling.
Do you have same problem?

i am wondering about this, too
i have done some stuff in preview 4 but basically just placing meshes, basic blueprint stuff not sure if i should go any further or wait for full and keep on working on 3d models instead (what i am doing now…)
It’s possible to continue, basically it’s just updating version of engine and don’t have anything to do with your personal files and projects (did it a lot of times on my own). Though, I personally recommend to make backup.

While we have some work going on in this direction, this is going to be a very large project and probably won’t be available in near future as a lot more research and time is required to get this to level we’d be happy with. Unfortunately, I don’t have a timeframe of when it will be ready to go but once we have something to show we’ll definitely be bringing this up again. There is a Simplygon version of this available already if you have a Simplygon license!
