Just want to reiterate about Translucent Materials when RAYTRACING in 4.23 Previews 1-2-3.
There are 2 issues:

Translucent Material meshes render with full opaque shadows, and this is a known issue.

When in Raytrace mode, Translucency as Raster is non-functional, even if selected.
(in contrast, this does work in 4.22.3)
