Can we please add some priority to this? I can’t be the only one who thinks this is super mega ultra important 
A simple html-style parser would be more than enough.
For example <color=FF0000>example</color> <b>rich</b> <u>text</u> <size=15px>message</size>, would render as “example **rich **text message”
That would solve 95% of my problems
