UE5.6.0 Preview

Have uodated to latest launcer. Have a 5.4.4 running perfectly as before. Just downloded 5.6.0 Preview. Have proper vusual studio and .net framework running. Win10 is updated to latest update. 32gb of ram and running a RTX A5000 GPU. Have all unreal engines running on a external SSD. When I attempt to launch latest 5.6.0 install, either from the latest launcher or from the desktop shortcut, it starts up with the spinning hourglass and just stops after about 2 seconds. I have run a verify with same result and did a reinstall with same result. No error message and noting event viewer>windows>applications or sytem. Have always had a smooth install process before this. Also, turned off antivirus with same result.

Any help would be appreciated. Help!!!

When you use something new from Epic, you’re going to have bugs everywhere… If you don’t want bugs, don’t use experimental things, or alpha or beta versions… wait until version Z or beyond…

Preview builds are for developers who want to contribute to the development of the engine.
They are experienced programmers who like to get into trouble.

Normal people don’t want that. You probably don’t want that either.
If not, report the bug.

Best Regards!!

Hello my name is Thom. Have you tried rebooting your computer?

That sounds frustrating. I bet there is a log file where you might be able to see if there is an error message? I assume that you are using the binary version and not building from source. Before you try it, there most likely isn’t a need to delete and download the whole thing again over and over again that’s not going to help unless you were on a 2400 bps on a noisy line! Then imagine the frustration lol.

Your likely having a version conflict with dependencies or missing paths if I were to guess, but those are things that the logfile may explain in more detail of where to look.

Good luck!
