Seems to be a 4.20 problem:

Unreal Engine 4.20 always crashes with alembic files

Hi, I get Alembic files which where created in Houdini. They work with 4.19 without any problems. But with version 4.20 I am not able to import these files with geometric cache option turned on anymore . I get always a crash no matter what I choose...
