Thank you for sharing, great work!! Anyone know how to block sun light in a cave?
is great! I have been trying a lot of different day night cycles and one is solid. One tip, change your auto exposure Minimum up to around 1 in Post Process so you can get a nice moonlit night.
Hi ,
so cool - thanks a lot for contribution! I Implemented your Day Night cycle in my project and it works like a charm. Just one question: When running a “Map check” I get following error:
“BP_DayCycle_SkyDome_C1 Large actor receives a pre-shadow and will cause an performance hit unless bcastDynamicShadow is set to false”
I do have some really large meshes in my level, but if they were problem, message should be reffering to one of those meshes and not your blueprint setup, right? Is there anything in your blueprint, which could cause error? I’m using your 1.4 Version.
Any hints much appreciated! Thanks a lot
Edit: Using Engine 4.8.3
Hey Greg, is great stuff! I’m having a few issues though (v1.4):
No stars or clouds.
Blueprint Compile error, I’ve compiled everything multiple times, message log isn’t giving me more info than TimeOfDayTemplate failed to compile.
Using 4.9.2
Thanks!
Amsome work man, I am using system as basis of a day night cycle system in my current project, I’m going to extensively edit it but it has gone a long way in helping me solve a few of more difficult problems I was having. Thanks alot
is awesome work! Been trying to make one for 4 weeks now, but has everything one could ever possibly need!
Only thing I’m wondering about is that sun rises in west and sets in east. Thought it was other way around. At least where I live haha.
Is there an easy way to change/fix ? Thanks for help in advance
Found it already, just change rotatevectoraroundaxis from x=1 to x=-1 and direction offset from 180 to 0 in set sunpitch. That way sun is in south and rises and sets from east to west.
Now I need to find a way to turn moon off/on. And prevent unlit mode during nights. Any thoughts on anyone? Thanks!
tutorial on wiki works perfectly. Thanks.
However I tried running 1.4 in UE 4.9 and when I load up included level, I get an error since I need to replace an reference variable called “Unknown” in level blueprint. What exactly am I supposed to put there?
There are also two directional lights called “To delete” and “To delete as well”, am I supposed to delete them? Are there some other steps required to get to run?
Works perfectly in UE4.9 thanks a lot for !
Edit: One small thing I noticed, started off using default 3rd person template and copied floor and just moved it up as a roof. With time set at 12 so sun is straight above me South side of building has light leaking in top corner all way across.
Screenshot to show what I am talking about: http://i.imgur.com/N0Bzikf.png
As I walk toward that wall light will eventually disappear but when I back up away from wall light comes back.
Hey Greg,
I set up your day night cycle seeing as it was better than my own which used timelines to change time. And I ran into a snag that I cannot seem to debug. clouds and sun move perfectly fine, however actual lighting cast upon scene is reverse of what time of day it is. For example sun will /rise/ visually and everything will be getting darker from here sun will fully rise and be high in sky visually and actual light available in scene will be completely dark! Any fix or ideas?
thank you for tutorial
How are you supposed to download blueprint?
When I click to download, an upload screen pops up
from Filedropper me to upload files.
download is broken I thinks is a necro post. is way way old
Sorry, new download link: https://.com/file/d/0B08tl8_2TWd1dkd5UWZyU1RmOFk/view?usp=sharing
sky project is very nice and thanks for sharing i. Can you make alien worlds as well with procedural weather now that you got sun all moving? I can get it working for Unreal Version 4.8 but I can’t get it working for Version 4.12 and because I have version 4.8 and also Ver 4.12 I can’t migrate your project successfully up to 4.12 because I don’t know what engine version you used to create project in. Unless you have a version of your project that’s compatible for 4.12…
Because as long as Unreal on keeps upgrading and changing things in engine all time, and we don’t keep on upgrading to latest to keep up with all changes they are making to engine then we probably won’t beable to migrate our older projects without causing migration issues, because I can’t even migrate unreal assets files from 4.8 to 4.12. uassset filenames and animations files made with 4.8 or 4.9 are incompatiable so they don’t even show up in content browser of 4.12 engine.
Great job … a query is there any way you can control rotation of day and night using button bluprint using (slider) …
Please some idea to achieve it?
Can i use system in Comercial projects?
Hey dude, That’s Amazing! One Question. Can i use system in Comercial projects? Or is just for learning? I was thinking in re-use code and just change a few things for my project. Is it free for that kind of thing?
Hey Dude, That’s amazing! One question. Can i use in my project with Comercial purposes for Free? Or is just for study purposes?
I was thinking in use system on my own project instead of build one from scratch… and just adapt a few things if it’s necessary. Can i do that? Or should i buy system in marketplace or some store?
Greg are you still alive with ?
Hi! For me there is no such property in Sun menu, same for moon, I have no place where to select light.
