There's a way to run or build UE 5 with Wayland support?

Hello! I’m using UE5, but I need to use wayland because of fractional scaling (incompatible with X11 in gnome).

Ok, I can open UnrealEditor in XWayland, but it’s blurry, so I want to open in Wayland to apply rightly the fractional scaling.

Thanks

Thanks, for answer and for improving the engine <3

In order to enter text on wayland right click the text box and then left click it and you should be able to type, setting it to focus follows cursor might also help, but that will apply to your entire desktop. It seems to be an issue related to window focus.

How do run Unreal in Wayland?
I use Unreal 5.4.x and already tried some envrioment variables and don’t work.

I in 5.4.3 same cannot run on wayland :sob:

Hey, related to the comments, you can input text in UE Wayland by holding Alt.

It’s not super convenient, but in Plasma at least you can also go into preferences, search for X11, and there should be a window titled something like “Compatibility of inherited X11 apps” (not sure if it’ll be called like that, I have it in Spanish).

There is a field called something like “Allow inherited X11 apps to read key presses of all apps”, which you can set to “Always”, and then Unreal will automatically read the text input. You’ll get a security warning tho, so I guess is also not the best option. It’d be great if we could configure it per-app, or even better if Unreal was updated to Wayland, but in the meantime these are the workarounds.
