I wouldn’t say that most publishers are leaving Steam
Microsoft wasn’t really that much into it (not surprising) but they’ve still published some of their games there. Ubisoft still publishes their games on Steam even though they have their own store. EA stopped publishing for Steam a while back, and Activision only really has one game to publish there. And honestly the next COD will not do well
The experience story from Bruno makes me wonder if shovelware is actually more profitable than making an actual real game. I know the idea sounds horrid but think about it: If exposure is more valuable to get sales than the quality of the games then it makes way more sense to just spam hundreds of ■■■■■■ games for almost no money than to make one really good but expensive game that then vanished into the sea of games.
