Spring controller (jigle bones) rotation doesn't work

I know this is 8 months old now, finally coming back to this specific issue now that I am nearing completion on the whole project I am working on, and still want to solve this issue without workarounds.

Frankly I would be more willing to modify some source code than toss around with Anim Dynamics any more than I already have, as I found it incredibly frustrating, especially just to recreate an incredibly simple function.

I am not a programmer, however I am fairly familiar with modifying program (mostly game) files. Do you know how to accomplish this? I found the bug report with the source code changes provided, but there wasn’t enough explicit instruction on how to solve the issue for a layman like me to know exactly what I need to do. Mostly, I don’t know precisely which file to modify, nor what the existing code is that needs to be replaced with the proposed code.

Would you be able to assist with this? I would be highly appreciative. And I’m sure everybody else who wants to make any type of object with spring-like mechanics would be similarly appreciative.
