Sketchup UV Material Scales wrong - Twinmotion 2022.2 Preview 1 (and older versions)

Just to add to my previous message, I assumed perhaps that it was the random wood material that I'd used. So I tried some different sketchup textures to check. Same result.

This is SU with 2 wall materials applied:

  • "Brick Rough Tan" which has a scale in SU of 660x560mm for the texture.
  • "Brick Antique 01" which has a scale in SU of 1473x940mm for the texture.

Now here they are in TM, pre TM material application. They look horrible to be at the same scale as SU!

5Now I'm applying the Clean brick 05 texture to these in TM.

All over the place! I've used the primitive again for reference for what the material scale should be. 💁

Finally, just as a quick test, I tried changing and reimporting the model with a sketchup texture, exponetially increased in scale to 5mx5m.

TM entrely ignores this value it seems.

6So all in all, I'm not sure it works like it's suppoed to. The old importer worked perfectly for any texture, or colour. Datasmith messes it all up, at least for me.

For reference this has been the case in both SU 2021 and 2022, and eversince DataSmith has been in use.

Finally, if I export from SketchUp as an FBX and import it, TM does obey the SU material scaling. But the default SU texture sizes/plain colours are still wrong when replaced with a TM material.

TL;DR, texture scales need fixing in Datasmith 😁
