One last thing: If what you mean by distortions is the weird greyscale stuff on the model within RC, try to set it to Solid in Scene Render - I find that much more suitable for judging surfaces than the Sweet setting.
I suspect control points aren’t the answer - the surfaces have massive matched details (tie points) between images so the misregistration must be a camera/algorithm thing. The distortions that I’m now talking about are tiny spikes and pits in the surface. If you get the RC viewpoint close to most any surface and look along you can see that there are patterns of spikes and dips, even in areas that should be very flat - for example the anchor bolt plates. These look ok when you texture over them, but make the surfaces lumpy when you smooth/simplify.
I’ll have a try with your suggestions tomorrow and attach some pictures of the surfaces from oblique angles depending where I get to on it. I hope - tomorrow is 360 video and reconstruction demos for the safety management team… busy busy!
