This month, the C++ adventure continue, and I did Vin Diesel in celshading somehow
Using vertex colors is a good idea if it works.
I did try this with nanite models but it turned out for me it can look very strange because of the LOD system nanite uses so i stoped testing for now.
I am not sure if you use LOD for you sk_models but if you do and did not test how this looks you should try this also. I did not try this myself with sk_models only sm_nanite models though.
This cel shading method looks cool. Yes, I would really like to know what method you used working in Blender+Unity to get that part done. Are you decimating a copy of the model based off planar angle and then projecting that normal orientation on the original?
Hello!
I’ve been pretty much under the radar lately, but I’ve taken the time to rewrite the whole combat system, using GAS. It wasn’t all plain sailing, and I had to brush up on my C++, but I’m really proud of the result now.
Let’s go! Back to good habits, and here’s a new monthly recap. You should soon be done hearing me talk about combat refactoring and code rewrite! It’s about time I moved on!
Hi there @Guedin !
Thank you for that lovely recap! I’ve only just got caught up with all of them and was very curious about something.
How did you come up with the character designs that we see? Were they inspired by anything?
Thank for the kind words.
Obviously, there’s a lot of japanim in there, as I love Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure :D. But for the character, I’m trying to go to a style that blend traditional Central and East Asian clothing, with streetwear, and 2 artists kickstarted this inspiration:
Mau Lencinas
Jor Ros
The spirit following you got his inspiration from one in the anime Shaman King
Hey there @Guedin !
Thank you for sharing where you got your inspiration from. I will agree that the blend style is actually quite delightful. I think you’re already doing pretty good with attempting to blend the styles together. It comes out and makes it quite unique in a style that is very much your own.
As I go back and watch some of the recaps again I also want to applaud you on the fluidity of animation. It’s the subtle motions you showcase that really make it all pop!
Combat and graphics are so clean on this. Amazing work!
Thank you!
