I decided to try and build our latest short film in Unreal Engine 4. Here it is:
From the image below you might guess what our inspiration for this film was.
So, we at Pengu Studios are looking into expanding to the app & game market. By building our films in Unreal we could look into building a game out of the project without starting everything from scratch.
Modo was used for Modeling & Animation tweaking.
Mixamo provided all base animations & rigging for the characters.
Allegorithmic Substance Painter & Designer were used for all texturing.
I was happy to discover to export a Z-pass from UE4, so I could then do some post work in After Effects.
There is a long learning path ahead, but this might just be the workflow we stick with for a while.
