Hi Unreal Engine Community,
I’m new to Unreal Engine and the broader Epic ecosystem, and I’m seeking advice and guidance on a project I’d like to develop. Specifically, I’m interested in understanding how I might leverage Fortnite’s Avatar System, including skins and emotes, for a custom web application I’m building.
Project Overview
I’m creating a custom web platform where users would ideally be able to select and use Fortnite-style avatars with a range of skins and emotes as part of a digital “store” experience. The idea is to provide users with access to the same customization options that make Fortnite so engaging, but integrated into my platform.
Key Questions:
- Is It Possible? – Is it even feasible to use the Avatar System from Fortnite for a web-based application? If so, are there any specific APIs or tools from Epic Games that would allow for this?
- Where to Start – As someone new to Unreal Engine and Epic’s development tools, what would be the best place to start learning and experimenting with this concept?
- Licensing and Permissions – Are there licensing restrictions or special permissions required from Epic Games to use Fortnite assets (skins, emotes, etc.) in a custom application? If so, what steps should I take to comply with those?
- Technical Requirements – What are the technical requirements and skills I should have (or resources I should explore) to begin integrating something like this? Are there tutorials, documentation, or sample projects that cover similar use cases?
Any Advice or Resources?
If anyone has experience or knowledge about integrating Unreal Engine assets into web applications or working with Epic’s APIs for something similar, I would greatly appreciate your insights or any resources you can point me toward.
Thank you so much for your time and support. I’m excited to learn from this community and make my vision a reality.
