[ROYALTY/PAID] Level Artist/Designer [CLOSED]

EDIT - This position has now been filled, thanks all for your interest

Hey awesome Unreal community,

My name’s Blake, I’ve been working on a networked MMO-style game for 9 months as a solo-endeavour and having just released a foundation MVP, I’m looking for help to progress the project.

Level Artist/Designer

Unreal engine is an amazingly powerful engine and can create breathtaking environments for players to roam around in. As someone primarily focused on the gameplay & coding it would be a wasted opportunity to try and do this myself.

I’m looking for a competent and passionate designer & artist to help bring the environment of the game to light, and to work alongside myself to help design the level layouts.

As this will be a networked game running a dedicated server; solid understanding of optimisation techniques are a must.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years experience using Unreal Engine in a generic and level-specific
  • Solid understanding of lighting
  • 3D modelling basic competency
  • Solid understanding of materials (e.g. water materials)
  • Solid understanding of optimisation techniques and best-practices
  • Have authored at least 2 levels on any released game (MVP release is fine)
  • Available throughout 2019 to commit to projects release roadmap

Nice to have:

  • Any overlap with other role skills (see below)
  • UK/EU based

How to apply:
Before applying, please check out the foundation demo by downloading the client here >> << to get a sense of what artistic style the game is leaning towards.

To apply, please send one email to ‘blakehandley@gmail.com’ with the subject line ‘BGP Application - Level Artist/Design’ containing the following information/links:

  • Full Name
  • Country
  • Age
  • Years experience in gamedev
  • Portfolio Link*
  • A bit about yourself
  • Contact details

*Your portfolio should contain as a minimum:

  • 3 of your best in-game screenshots of levels/environments you have created
  • 1 playable demo level. This must be made by unreal and can be in the form of an editor project or packaged client

Other roles and skills
While not actively searching at the moment, I am on the lookout for extra help with the below. Any skills overlap would be advantageous

  • Backend Developer (DB, AWS, Cloud Scaling, AWS SDK) - Planned recruitment April 2019
  • Character Artist (Animation, Modelling, Rigging, Skeletal Meshes, texturing) - Planned recruitment May 2019
  • Writer (Storyline, Quests) - Open
  • 2D Artist (GUI design & creation, Icons) - Planned recruitment May 2019
  • Sound Artist (Environment, UI) - Planned recruitment May 2019

Thanks for your time reading, looking forward to hearing from you soon

@Moderators I will intend to close this thread once we have found someone

What do mean with royalty/paid ? The term paid here refers to paid jobs, e.g. per hour.
Royalty means that the people work for free for you, in the hope that the game will ever be finished AND then they might receive any money from you depending on how you define the royalty (e.g. profit is a vague term depending on how you define youre costs) and if you really pay the money as probably no one will hunt & sue you in a foreign country if you don’t.

Hi Pinotti,

I have added the flair [ROYALTY/PAID] as an indication that I’m flexible to suit either compensation type, the mechanics of which I am aware of

Compensation is a large topic that I plan to discuss during the second application stage (interview), of which all details will need to be agreed/signed to before any work commences for the benefit of both parties.
