To get a better match for the original geometry you would probably need to spray the object before scanning.

But the other thing you can try is remeshing. Simplify your model to a size that the blender can cope with; then you can play with the remesh modifier set to sharp.

The triangles are unlikely to exactly match the originals. You can then apply the modifier and unwrap the model in blender using the “smart UV project” and then bring the model back into RC for texture projection.

I think the ideal workflow would be using both scanning spray and a remesh.
