[RELEASED] for UE4: Complete Sky and Weather System

Hi. I just installed the plugin and while it looks great I have some issues.

In editor everything runs at 120FPS but as soon as I hit play the framerate drops to 40FPS. That’s in an empty project. When using it in a real project I have a drop from 60FPS down to only 9FPS. Anyone experienced the same behaviour? One interesting thing I noticed is when I delete the sequence from the world and hit play, the framerate is finally good and the sky is still there and working. After I hit play the second time then the sky dissappears.

And what I am curious about is the TrueSkyWater actor.
What is it doing? How to use it? All the parameters are greyed out, there is not a single word about it in the documentation, 0 hits when googling it. It looks like it doesn’t exist!
It is driving me crazy. What is it doing? Help!

@ What version of are you using?

I am using plugin 4.1a. For both 4.19 and 4.18.

@ Water is a 4.2 only , the objects still exist within the editor for 4.1a but are non-functional.

@michael_simul Thank you I will try 4.2 to see what it does  I have one more question that I elaborated in my previous post. The framerate drops drastically when I hit play but it works well in the editor. What can be the probem?

Help. Any changes in clouds lead to result. How to fix?

Hi all,

anyone had problem with plugin ? I am getting error: * application faild to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin … *

I dont have houdini plugin as mentioned in documentation. I have latest version 4.19.2 4.1a.

Thank you.

Yes, I do, but after I packed it, there was no such thing.

Have you tried changing the Amortization settings under clouds?

Also @, I’ve pushed a fix out for the performance, which should be up soon.

I tried to package but it always fails with a message:
: Error: does not support the Null rendering API

For the info I am using a 30 days trial license, plugin version 4.1a and UE 4.19.2 and 4.18.3
Any idea how to get it working? I want to buy a license but of course I want to try it first if it works well with my projects. But so far I am just constantly stumbling upon some problems and there is only a very limited documentation.

Hi ,
That log is expected if you are cooking your game (as there is no rendering device created). Is it happening if you launch the editor?

4.19.2 I’m looking for a way to place a billboard behind the clouds (above the clouds), without it showing as if it were in front of clouds.

(Edit) I should expand a bit on . I just bought for 4.19.2 (binary)for the first time. I am very pleased with the purchase of the product and all that it can do. However, I am uncertain about any intuitive knowledge I’ve found online, as it seems there is both little to gather and that which is available seems outdated. So I am not even entirely sure that I’ve set it up correctly or if it is functioning the way in which it was/is intended. I can see it in my project, It has been installed correctly (as far as I can tell), I can mess with all the parameters and change all of the wonderful settings to my hearts content. But things like how to alter time speed(?), how to light/illuminate my clouds at night (?) is the ocean working(?) if I should still be using any Blueprints(?), and where is the TrueSkyLight Component that I’ve seen mentioned(?), or do I even have or need to use some of these mentioned components(?). leaves me with those and a few other questions regarding an newly updated plugin and its possible relevant/available information. I am in complete understanding that over time things are made somewhat easier, but I’m not sure precisely what has changed when it comes to my queries. Also, I would like to note that I am aware that is a work in progress, building plugins or working on anything like takes time, that when things break it takes up developers time and focus, and that there is a limited amount of time to update notes, videos, tutorials, and . I can appreciate the work and scope that an undertaking such as constantly takes.

As of post, the current, the one I am mainly interested in, is the one in relation to placing any object above the clouds. I don’t see how I can do it, perhaps it is a bit noob-ish of me, lol, and I apologize if it is indeed so. I cannot seem to place ANY object above the clouds, not merely billboards. Objects are still entirely visible from underneath and/or from within the clouds, as if not placed above at all. Is there a way to remedy ? If so, please help/share as any information about or in regards to my other mentions, would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. plugin is wonderful and would make a great addition to my project

Hi. It is happening when I want to package the project as WindowsNoEditor x64. What should I do to make it work?

I was same error!

When I was packaging, i same error message, and i crash with access violation in editor mode.

i used version 4.19.2 4.1a and 4.19.4.2, it was same.

Hello. I am also using . However, if you use the sequence Actor in UE 4.19, the frame rate will drop to 40 fps during game play. problem has occurred in both 4.1a and 4.2. Is there a solution?

Same Null render error and packaging and issues with performance in 4.1a.
I’ve tried latest 4.2, sadly I don’t see much difference in performance - works great in editor window and drops to 5 FPS if trying to play. On top of that, clouds are constantly “shimmering” regardless of churn and wind settings and settings in actor don’t seam to have any effect.

@, @** **we pushed a fix for the perf drop, if you are building from source try pulling last version. The binary installer will probably be ready soon, but builds are coming out slowly.

Thanks for your patience.

Trying 4.1a version from 1st of July. Compared to previous version performance is twice as good but it still too low to be useful.

Maybe will be helpful. On the left is stats from editor window and on the right are from “Play”

Trying out for the first time, but it seems to be really temperemental with breaking and stopping showing updates in the editor. Is a known? For example I can change the time of day in the sequence actor, and it changes in game, but in the editor time stands still. (whereas at first it would update in the editor just fine)

Same thing tried all prebuilt 4.19.2 versions - fps drops from 120 to 6 on play or simulation. Totally unsusable
