lol I’ve often contemplated whether it would be faster to write some custom xml or html code to produce the same effect instead of fighting with LateX. Might get that written and the paper done in the same time LateX takes
O_O downloading now and going to attempt to build it and play with it. Hopefully I can get it working when my new videocard card comes for an early bday gift. Getting a Titan X. Then I can really put then engine it’s limits still going to have fun with . Thanks so much man.
What’s the difference between SSR and Epic’s SSR on high quality?
Titan X? Gonna use TAN_ meme here
That would be quite the high end test!
BTW, wanted to ask, anyone here with a Fury X? Would like to see how scales with the memory bandwidth of HBM
Ok maybe I am just missing something or I compiled it wrong (not a programmer but learning) eveything runs fine though I have no shadows and I am not seeing some of the options for lights as shown in previous pics. I got the source via . Any ideas or did I pull just the engine by mistake lol.
Do you have the Approximate Hybrid Raytracing options in the post process volume?
Didn’t check those and reloaded it and had shadows. My 660GTX SC is dying so might need to wait until my beast comes before I can do some major testing. There was shadows I just didn’t notice them until I made a new blank level and a box with the standard content table. All running smooth now
You should get about 30 fps, depends on the settings, with that gpu. What fps you get?
I havent had a to really check it out with my 660 SuperClocked though it ran pretty smooth. Hard to tell atm cause I think my 660 is dying on me so I am trying to prolong it as long as I can cause with UE4 open for more then about 5mins temp starts getting to 90-100c and I don’t have a replacement until the Titan X comes here drool if you want though add me to Skype user name on there is Keiyentai and I can see what I get for a simple scene and make sure I have it set up properly. Pretty sure I did but like I mentioned not a programmer really.
Oh I see. No problem. Will add you on skype though, just in case.
Hmm ok Compiled it fine yay though when I try to run the AHRTestScene the Editor just sits at 45% and my CPU jumps to 99% running 4 instances of the ShaderCompiler and it gives me the " project was made with a different version of Unreal" etc. However I can confirm that I compiled it right cause I can open new scenes and have all the AHR fun stuff. Now on to seeing if I can tweak things and work right.
The shader compiler thing is fine but the problem is cause the demo is still 4.8.3
Find the Other Options link in that message and press convert in place. Should open after that
Sorry . I have been busy.
Turns out my GPU doesn’t support DX12. Sooo… sorry can’t measure the difference
Here are what I got from test level. The reflections are there alright and things seem to work in coherence. Changed nothing.
These were the settings
Then I got the exact same settings from your level. Switched to “problematic” Blueprints Level, deleted “everything” then I applied the the same settings and Voila !
Alas do I set from AHRBounds ? I can’t seem to get it into action ?
Looking good!
For movable you set them on your main post pro volume, not on the bounds one
Done it !
I was getting 7-8 FPS without movable but with movable ticked and with a values of 30 for x,y,z I get double (~16-17 FPS) . I am happy I guess ?
By the way I am using a 3 year old gaming laptop. Hence the low frame rates.
Cool, yeah, the Voxel size has quite an impact on tracing speed, and after a certain threshold, hell breaks loose and performance goes way down. Think its when it starts to spill to system ram.
Anyway, specs for the notebook? And goes for everyone, please, when you guys give specs, also give screen res, otherwise its really hard to draw conclusion. Please people
I have an Asus G75V. Here are the specs

For better comparison; your AHR runs at the same speed on my machine in Blueprint Level with one:

So not bad for now. But after you get into optimization part I expect it to be really good and a great alternative.
Hope that helped. Need to sleep now. Have to learn **** LaTeX
Ahh I didn’t do convert in place I think I did skip conversion. Wow I feel like a dolt lol. I’ll change that now and then check it out on my uber 660GTX SuperClock until I get my Titan >> that card needs to hurry up fanbois >>
EDIT: Tried convert in place hits 45% and my CPU spikes to 99% and I am running an i7950 3.2Ghz (bit old but still not a slow cpu) and 24GB DDR3 1066. I’ll keep trying though.
Strange, that computer should be more than enough. It should take a few minutes at most.
I figured it out and even got Substance in it. So now it’s all running smooth I might just need to reimport my gamefile cause my dude still looks like a quake model but everything is working now. I REALLY love the AHR features. I don’t think the blood has looked so good >_> and once I got the basics of compiling it even rebuilfing and adding the Substance was effortless. Once I get some good scenes I will post them.
