Can your tool enable dynmaic indirect specular and reflections? I mean reflections not caused by direct light but by indirect bounced lights and can vary if you change the light positions just like Nvidia VXGI. Reflections its something that is already implemented, but disabled for now, as it introduces a whole new set of problems

Reflections are the ingredient that makes the dish spicy but tasty. I hope you implement when you finish the indirect lighst and shadows.

Getting the lighting to work is just more important for a first iteration. Also, reflections were looking quite buggy and distracted from judging the overall results of the GI. So I suggested to deactivate them for now, concentrate on the lighting, and when all those components are working as expected, bring back the reflections and then work on them to make it all nice and shiny (or glossy :P)

Yes. That is my opinion too. Concentrate on the lighting first and then add the reflections. Then later they can add more bounces (at least 2 indirect bounces). I am sure they can :smiley: . Good luck and !

Well, just wanted to say that it’s on track, got emissive working, got the separated static/dynamic voxelization working, and a few usability improvements. Need to fix a few bugs and improve my blur algorithm, things are too noisy right now, and i think i’ll be up for a public demo

Kickass dude, just be careful Nvidia doesn’t take you down :stuck_out_tongue: Even so, I’m willing to give a shot your and nvidia VXGI once implemented, since I badly need a good GI solver. I like LPV, but for full interior scenes is quite the pain in the **** to use.

I really don’t think nvidia will give vxgi for free for all ue4 users. My idea with is that it gets into the trunk eventually

Hmm, might be free then, if they actually implement it. It will be nvidia only though, which I don’t think it’s acceptable for everyone. In any case, my technique is one of the many ones that are starting to appear now, so time will tell. I do have integration quite advanced though. More news about that later…

actually mentioned in the thread that VXGI will be released by the end of January (on the Nvidia branch), and that it runs on DirectCompute so it is cross platform capable, the only thing that remains to be seen is the performance (which is sounding better than before, he can use it on a 670).

But please don’t let that deter you in any way, you are doing an incredible job! We need more options in the engine, the more the better! Can’t wait to see your next update :slight_smile:

I bet both methods will have their pro’s and con’s. I’d rather have the choice of picking strengths than being forced with a single option. Keep up the great work!

Well guys, I’m taking week off, as I really need some vacations. Things are quite advanced now, and we are stress testing them with a few guys of the forums. They should have something for you guys sometime along week. For now all I can say is that it’s looking really good.
