Well, I’m getting around 100fps on a GTX 980Ti with the right optimisations:
Unfortunately, there’s a lot of artifacting dependent on view angle:
I’m unsure why that’s happening but I’m going to look into it. Fairly happy with how that came out too.
One thing about landscape materials though is I wasn’t able to do the hull expansion that causes objects to sink into the grass, because landscape materials crash pretty badly and distortions on terrain are generally advised as a bad thing to do by Epic.
I got a landscape set up with some anime style. May I ask to get the link for Material as well, I can give feedback and share some screens of the landscape if you like.
Completely fixed the artifacting. This view was giving 120fps:
Tomorrow I’ll try adding some additional texture maps for distant textures so that there’s less repetition when you’re high above the terrain or on distant features. Right now though I’d say it’ll look pretty good when it’s done.
I’m good for testers at the moment - it’s easier to release something when it’s completely done than when there’s still stuff that’s annoying me in it.
Not sure if it’s using temporal AA or not but I don’t think it’s the cause. It’s dependent on the number of slices used in the parallax function and then the dissolve mask. They never fully go away. Here’s a newer shot:
