[Question] Why did you leave the Unity3D behind?

LOL. Guess you didn’t recognize my name. I commented on that video and on that thread at Unity’s forum.

Not every week, but once in a while. And, well a bit more complex. Like tappy chicken or space invaders level of complexity.

Personally i use them both…For mobile and 2D games for now i am using Unity and for 3D bigger projects i use UE4.
Until i feel at least same level of confidence with Unreal as i feel with Unity.

There is no reason to not leave Unity behind for UE4 <3

Because the material editor is the worst thing I have ever had to use. It takes far to long to get even a moderately complex material up and running.

I still do projects in Unity when I need to use Vuforia, and their material editor just about throws me into a blind rage every time.

I even got to this thread by googling “Why is unitys material editor so awful” as a way of coping with the shear horribleness of it.

I can’t wait until UE4 has a viable AR platform, then I can finally drop unity all together and work towards reducing my blood pressure

Simple enough reason. I left Unity3D behind mostly because of the extremely poor tutorials. After six weeks of Unity tutorials I was still making terrible 2D projects with almost no relevance to the projects I was hoping to create.

Six hours after changing to UE4, I had completed the Endless Runner tutorial and was well on my way to 3D heaven.

Personally i don’t pledge any allegiance to any specific game engine, i use the right one for the right job. I use unity for 2d games and intermediate leveled 3d games, UE4 for more complex 3d games and cryengine just for demo projects.

You must be really knowledgeable, working on 3 different game engines.

Its like using Nokia 3310 (free unity) instead of Sony Xperia XZ (ue4) because you are lazy.
UE have much better editor and community. Much more high quality guides and possibilities.

Its hard to believe that amazing engine like UE4 is free (i know about 5%)
