Proposal for Memory Cap Adjustment in UEFN Live Edit Mode to match FNC.

Current Limitation:
The 100k memory cap is a critical restriction for publishing purposes. However, this limit applies during live editing sessions, where hitting the cap prevents any further movement, adjustment, or duplication of props. This restriction significantly hinders creators who need to efficiently test and arrange a large number of prefabs or assets during the creative process.

  • Creators scouting props in a concentrated area quickly run into the limit.
  • Moving, copying, or organizing preferred props becomes tedious when the cap is reached.

Why This Matters:
Live edit mode is a sandbox for experimentation. The current cap:

  • Slows down creative workflows.
  • Hinders the ability to explore, test, and refine layouts from a player’s POV.

This is not a thing in FNC you can go over the cap.

Proposed Solution:

Introduce a Memory Cap Toggle or Flexible Cap in Live Edit Mode:

  1. Toggle Option:
Allow creators to bypass the memory cap temporarily during live edit mode. This would be restricted to testing and non-publishable states.
  2. Dynamic Memory Adjustment:
  • The editor dynamically warns or highlights when exceeding the memory cap.
  • Automatically enforces the cap again when switching to publish mode.
  1. Sandbox Mode:
A distinct mode with no memory restrictions that allows unrestricted asset placement and testing.

Benefits:

  1. Encourages faster prototyping and creativity.
  2. Reduces frustration for creators experimenting with large-scale environments.
  3. Keeps publishing guidelines intact while enhancing usability for non-finalized projects.
