I’ve got two Components containing about a dozen photos common to both, so why won’t these align into a single Component? There are issues with the photography, but I’ve managed to make much of this data work, have reason to believe that this could be resolved with better understanding of RC settings. I see the Maximal error peaks at the limit 1.999, so would this indicate there’s something between both Components that won’t resolve because some threshold is surpassed?
Here’s the one Component with 72 cams w/ settings:

And here’s the Component with 37 cams, there being 14 cams in common with first Component. (Note, cam sequences reflected in Component names shown.) The overlapping region is evident in the upper right side of the 3D views where the passage opens wider and with an embankment.

I’ve tried running both ways, Force component rematch True and False. I’ve also varied Detector sensitivity, Max features per mpx and Max features per image. Many thanks if I’m not seeing an effective strategy, besides taking more photos with better overlap
Hi Benjamin
can you give me more information on control points’ placement ( so that I can see how many projections you have used per CP ) and how you placed them in the images. Or can you send me images +RCPROJ file for inspection ?
It resolved when I exported Components to .rcalign, then set Features source to merge using overlap. I’m also finding useful changing that to Use all image features for a selection of images within a Component. So I’m clear how that works, would this simply save processing time in targeting the handful of images containing common features? I was hoping it might reject the alignment if a solution didn’t preserve the whole Component, see that setting can yet fragment a larger Component into many smaller ones, none of which contain the one I was after. No big deal, not to burn time chasing a solution with inadequate photography.
BTW, I just discovered the Find similar function right-clicking image in 2Ds, see the alternate route in Scene> Similarity. I’m unclear how Reset Similar relates to switching back to Index or Name, also unclear what distinguishes Index from Name.
