PC vs Console vs Mobile Game Development

Sword fighting games are very difficult to design for keyboard/mouse.

Yeah, most action games on PC only support keyboard and mouse superficially. Doesn’t matter how much effort they put into it.
Just try playing Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Rising on a keyboard.

Yeah, I believe Icaraeus and Grim are correct, while some games technically supports kbd+mouse, the game is not meant to be (and does not play well) with that input device. Simply put certain games, just as you noted with RTSs, have certain input requirements. Which is why you don’t see many RTSs on console. Ergo if you are developing an RTS you are best off starting with PC (or Mobile if you have a specific touch only vision). Plenty of genres blend some devices, very few (if any) blend them all. I prefer to let the profitability of the game guide my development and these items are kept in mind from the start of the project…

But I feel I somewhat derailed the OPs question so lets go back to that :smiley:
