I could not finish it, as it would need a team and about an additional year of programming.
But it looked IMHO very good for a prototype.
I could stream anything which can be played on PC desktop to any VR device or to webbrowsers (even SBS content).
Receving streams on quest worked by using a PC.
(I.e. You always needed a PC, but you could use 3d/www/or VR).
The clue was, that you could even collaborate by being able to modify the hosts screen as well.
So… it could be a very sophisticated remote work solution, but it would need a plan.
Best would be, if epic games would say: “cool, let’s make our metaverse now and use your extended pixelstreaming approach”, as a lot of time has to go into solving network issues like “how to you open ports on the clients PCs etc.” which I can not solve alone.
Also, there is not pixelstreaming-client for quest-ports, which would need a few touches from epic games.
Currently I am also working fulltime in flat-land, so … it is on hold :/.
Thank you for your feedback. Going full VR would be awesome, but is not so simple without help.
