Do you have a compiler installed on your PC like Visual Studio 2013? Here is a video to follow along to get it installed ://./watch?v=usjlNHPn-jo&list=PLZlv_N0_O1gYGXhsKo6NsvwR6f2IwSggZ
I have VisualStudioExpress2013 installed but I’ve never used it.
I simply downloaded the VaOcean_0.4-a6-fix1_UE4.3.1_Win.7z and followed my instructions.
(I.m using UE 4.3). I did not have to recompile anything.
It is possible UE4 needs VSE2013 installed to use some redistributables, but I’m not aware of any dependency for VSE2013 except for building C++ projects (which you are not trying to do).
So basically, if you have the following installed you should (at least) be in the same position as MountainDew and me:
- Windows 7-64 bit
- UE 4.3
- VSE2013
- ://.com//VaOcean/releases/download/0.4-a6-fix1/VaOcean_0.4-a6-fix1_UE4.3.1_Win.7z
If you’re still having issues after the above then you’ll have to ask .

Are you using last UE 4.3.1?
No, I am using 4.3.0.
I don’t use to download and recompile the complete UE4 engine source. (I prefer to wait for final/official pre-built releases).
I did see the fix1_UE4.3.1 text in the zip file but assumed it was a revision and would still work in 4.3.
*By revision I mean w.r.t. 4(major).3(minor).1(revision) SCCS number formatting.
*
If that assumption is incorrect then I’ll have to wait for the next official release (UE4.4). Let me know.
Thanks.
Im using 4.3.1 Same problem as Ash
Ash, you can install 4.3.1 from the official launcher now. It doesn’t seem like all assets for 4.3.1 will work 4.3.0
Thanks Acenth!
How did you find out about the new 4.3.1 launcher?
I thought the 4.3.0 launcher I have installed was the ‘official’ launcher.
Even if I log out and back into my 4.3.0 launcher it doesn’t show any info about a newer 4.3.1 launcher being available.
Did anyone get ocean with moving big waves working?
I’m able to add the to my blueprint project just fine, and I have it activated in the plugins menu. I don’t understand how to create an ocean plane in the scene though.
If I try to make a new blueprint from ‘Va Ocean State Actor Simple’, I can’t click ‘okay’, it just has cancel. What’s wrong?

I’m not on my main computer at the moment, but I recall the option being under Library. Should be a dropdown arrow next to the 4.3.0 version with an update option. The launcher considers minor revisions to be the same main release.
I just tried on 4.4 and same error.
I have no idea why you have these problems with UE 4.3.1. Try to remove Saved and Intermediate folders from your project, then re-gen project files and make full rebuild. It must work.
How to install the VaOcean with SourceCode?

The probably has to be recompiled for 4.4
I tried adding the to a clean 4.4 FirstPerson Blueprint project (just as a test), following my installation procedure. I got:
, have you ever installed/tested VaOcean on a clean machine without Visual Studio Express, or UE engine source code (as a test)?
I’m wondering if your system is referencing files that a clean pc will not have.
E.g. I have never downloaded or compiled the UE source code.
Just a wild guess.

I had a big ocean in 4.3.0 but it wasn’t moving in the editor or play mode, just frozen.
The ‘flat ocean’ ripples did move in the editor and play mode.

Thanks.
I’ve never seen a 4.3.1 option under the dropdown arrow, only **remove **and verify.
Anyway, doesn’t matter for now. I just installed 4.4.0.
(I’ll look out for it next time).
Pre-compiled version for UE 4.4.0 is out: ://.com//VaOcean/releases/tag/0.4-a6-fix1
It’s just a build, is fully compatible with 4.4.x.

Runtime plugins are not fully supported for content-only projects by engine! So, if you’re using plugins in Content only project you won’t be able to make Shipping build and you will always meet “out of date problem”. I hope it will be improved in next releases.
If you’re using non content-only project, just make a full recompile, and it will update binaries.

No worries, I am just testing to see how it looks and performs. I am nowhere near shipping! ![]()

I’m not familiar with the term ‘Content-Only’ project.
Do you mean ‘projects that don’t use additional/3rd party plugins’?
At the moment, I only ever create test Blueprint projects from within the UE project browser then add the VaOcean to it, i.e just a basic test harness.
Here is a small video demonstration of my problems if you could help me out. :///watch?v=vadHd2pEP1E

No, Content-Only means Blueprint-Only, as in you don’t have any C++ source code for your project.
I’ve added simple demo project: ://.com//VaOcean/wiki/Demo-project
