On Fab, oversaturation of low-quality assets can significantly disadvantage legitimate creators. Studios invest a lot of time and effort into creating high-quality assets, which are released less frequently. However, when the platform becomes flooded with low-quality items, the less frequently released standard asset packs struggle to get discovered. The abundance of low-quality products dominates visibility, overshadows search results, and makes it challenging for legitimate creators to profit.
I think they’re using AI for quality control + a lot of the humans don’t understand about the engine.
I got stung a while ago by something that claimed to be a sci-fi material, it was actually a collection of ABSURDly high poly Nanite meshes. My machine needed more energy than a sun flare to open the demo level. No use to anyone. And then I got told off by support when I asked for my money back. They actually said it was a material. Go figure…
Flooding the market with garbage wouldn’t matter so much if it had much better search facilities. Right now, they keyword search seems to work slightly better, but you can’t sort after a search.
Another good addition, would be the ability to block sellers totally.
