Need help building a computer that can run Unreal

Hey guys, I’m new here. I have decided to take on a big task of making my own video game

I really would appreciate some help with deciding on the parts needed to create a rig powerful enough to handle Unreal 4, zbrush and whatever else I may end up needing.

I know the biggest factor is how much I can pay and I really don’t have very much money but I think if I can just get to the point where I can start to learn Unreal it will be worth the cost for me.

I can spend $800-$1300 but I really really hope I can build a decent machine for less than a thousand. I don’t need 100 fps, 60 would be fine enough for me.

Please let me know if you have any ideas

Gtx 970, core i7 16gb ram

Nice build there man.

I’d go with this:

Debated on the CPU/GPU balance, but this is the same GPU I have and I only wish I had a better processor and more RAM. This build would provide both improvements over my own system. That being said, I haven’t really worked with ZBrush so you could swap the GPU out with something beefier and maybe the PSU as well.

GTX 970 4GB Overclocked with Core i7 Haswell. 16GB RAM and SSD + HDD. You should be able to squeeze that into a US $1,250 budget. Good luck!

16 gigs of ram.
GTX 970 4GB is recommended but you can run it with even a GTX 660 2GB (which I am using).
SSD -> OS, UE , HDD-> Storage etc if you can afford it. HDD standalone is also an option.
i5/i7 is good enough :stuck_out_tongue: (i am running a 3570k but its hydrocooled!)

You should be able to choose your own parts/models.
Kudos to KorkuVeren for a full build though.

560Ti here ^^
16GB i-2500k (untouched), happy with that.

I’d say the i7 is useless until CPU > GPU . . . so save the money on cpu (amd or intel doesnt matter much), and invest that amount 200-300$ instead into a better gpu.

but amd is releasing HBM2 spring 2016, so waiting may be a very good idea.

i run amd 8320
16gb ram
nvidia 750 ti
amd 280x
ssd

More than enough, but lacking for VR.

VR:

fps>90
at least dual 1080p

For UE4 indeed, An unlocked quad-core Haswell i5 will help one spend more towards a Nvidia 970 or 980Ti.

As for AMD, it’s a bit of a bummer that it’s lagging behind Nvidia Gameworks if one wants to try some new “extra” engine technology like HBAO+ and VXGI.
