How is it Epics or their technologies fault if you don’t optimize your games.
First of all, I’m saying Epic is directing telling people not to optimize(in a number of ways).
The engine has too many features revolved around virtual production(meaning the basic standard of 16.67ms budget is gets harder to achieve) , and idiot studios(including AAA studios) are using the engine “as is” when the engine is inappropriate for standard gaming rigs.
For context, I’m talking about hardware at least 9 times the power of the PS4. Where plenty of titles released on that console are only 10% behind in the visual standards offered today.
UE5 effects me as a gamer due to it’s unnecessary bloated(in compute timings) algorithms for basic effects. But as a developer who see’s clear solutions I cannot personally implement, I will do my part raining in the truth about what needs to be done for my game and others. Since this is a forum, where imporant things like this need to be discussed.
This engine is not benefitting the majority of players with reasonable powerful hardware.
So please, just please, take a moment and hail Epic for this enormous leap forward to realistic geometry in games and thus graphical fidelity
Games never needed 100-300k poly doors, windows, and walls. Games never needed scenes consisting of billions of triangles. And lets not forget the fact that all that detail, turns into subpixel hell that needs to be managed by a blurry Temporal algorithms. So we are getting worse graphical fidelity.
