6 When using Standalone Game, with alt+enter (Full Screen) with one monitor and Oculus Rift, it’s possible for the user to move the mouse onto the monitor and click on another window, losing game focus.
I can’t seem to reproduce this issue (#6) in the office on 4.5. Do you have any more reliable repro steps?
I can reproduce it this way:
-
Launch UE4.4.3
-
Create new project using first person template (blueprint)
-
In level blueprint: Begin event → execute console command ‘fullscreen’
-
package project (win64)
-
Close UE4
-
Set Oculus Rift DK2 (SDK 0.4.2) in Direct to Rift mode
-
Launch the packaged game
-
Move the mouse violently in all direction while simultaneously clicking left and right mouse buttons
-
Mouse point ‘detaches’ from game
With the above approach I can get the mouse to loose game focus in less than one minute.
I’m using a Geforce GTX 970 with latest drivers, and only one monitor at 1680x1050@60hz.
OS: Win7 64 bit.
It seems like the problem only happens when rift is in Direct mode. I can not reproduce it in extended mode.
Let me know if you have any questions.
I’m still working on this issue, but I’m not able to reproduce issues #2, 3, or 4 in 4.5.1 - they may have been fixed by the update. I’ve reported #1 internally, and I’m pursuing #6 although I don’t personally have an Oculus Rift.
Thanks for the update. Please let me know if you want me to do any testing or need more information, because this issue is ruining my game. I can’t test with 4.5.1 though, because I don’t have an active sub at the moment.
Specifically, you mean that #6, the Oculus Rift single-monitor issue, is the one ruining your game?
Yes. It’s a game made for VR (Oculus Rift) only.
EDIT: I have updated to Oculus SDK 0.4.3 , but it made no difference to the problem.
You’re quite welcome. I apologize for the long wait on the fix!
The problem has been solved in UE 4.6
Thank you!
Did something change since 4.6 as I think this is broken again
Hello ,
I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.
Quick questions:
- Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
- If so, could you provide a detailed set of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
- Could you provide screen shots of any blueprints that may be involved with this issue?
yes just download the memory game or the strategy game if you play either in the editor window or a new window the mouse is able to leave the game window as soon as you click inside the window. The mouse cursor does not stay captured to the game
Hello ,
I tried downloading the 4.9.2 version of the Strategy game and was unable to reproduce this issue. Just to clarify, when you say “captured” do you mean locked to the view port?
yes the game does not stay locked to the viewport which creates problems when trying to access menus and the like
Hello ,
I have a few more questions for you.
Additional questions:
- What version of the engine are you using?
- Are you using Alt+tab or any other means to get your mouse out of the viewport?
- Could you provide the exact steps that you are using to unlock the mouse form the screen?
