Hey Ondrej. I’ve uploaded the data to the location specified. I compressed it as well so its easier to upload and download. Hope thats ok. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks for the replies and the assist.
Hello Joel, in my case the alignment took 57 hour to align the components. I haven’t used control points, so not all data are merged, but still the job was finished.
As I wrote, there is this bug with a lot detected features for laser scans, which will be solved in a next release and can have a negative influence on the alignment time. But still, mentioned 6 days seem to be too much.
You can also try to run the alignment using lower Max features per images settings (to same some time at least for the images).
Now I am trying to use the alignment process to check the time difference between the methods (but is shouldn’t be too different).
Hi @JoelTan33
Would it be possible to upload also the original laser scan data? To check, if the merging will be so long also for lower number of detected features?
It took you 57 hours to merge the components or align them? I find that merging seems to be taking longer than aligning.
What were your max feature per image as I was using 40k with 10k preselectors.
Merge components. But alignment took similar time.
I used the same settings. The problem is, that there is a bug which will find more features as set for the laser scans. Therefore the merging components is longer as it should be.
Yeah ok. So is there anything you need on my part to help you problem solve this further? Do you still require the original scans or would you like more images? Or should we just wait until the next update? Do you have an ETA for that?
I’m finding that there seems to be a threshold where it’s fast and then it’s really slow particularly when merging lasers with photos upwards of 20k inputs, where it hits 14% in a day, then it’ll only reach 16% over the 3 days. My machine with 192Gb of RAM seems to be flatlining at roughly 30% during this entire process.
I assume the number of controls points wouldn’t influence alignment/merging times?
If it is possible, can you upload the original laser scan data?
As you are using component workflow, were the components created in the newest release, too? Also, what was the feature quality detection settings?
We need to figure out what is causing this issue. So, there is no ETA when it will be solved.
Control points shouldn’t influence this.
Hey, I tried to upload the original scans to the location you specified earlier, but its telling me that I can’t believe I’m out of space and need to upgrade my plan.
I believe some of the components were generated with RealityScan 2.0, and some with 2.1. Feature Quality detection was set to High
How bug is the scan? It should be possible to upload almost anything. Is it possible that you are in your personal folder, not the Epic’s one?
Compressed, the scans are 193Gb. Its definitely the epic account, and I’m trying to upload it to the same folder I uploaded everything else.
Error I’m getting is: “This file exceeds your plan’s upload limit. Upgrade now to store larger files.”
That’s really strange. It should work even for bigger filed. I’ll try to prepare a second upload folder for you if it works.
I just tried it on the new folder but it’s still giving the same error. I’ll try split the scans into 2 smaller files and upload those.
Splitting the scans worked. I have uploaded 2 compressed files into the new folder you gave me
Thank you, I will check it.
