Thanks for your reply @Jungleboy76 ,
I thought there was another place for that (like in the UE project settings).
well, i guess that doesn’t support Video capture devices, I am still stuck with and Direct X 12. Hope i will find an answer soon.
I hope this gets fixed soon…
Bumping this. Really really need DX12 for nanite for a project and must use mp4 files for video playback. Not an option to use flipbooks or image media source or anything. Is there still no way to play video files in UE 5.0.1 with DX12? I saw that electra method above but confused where to find/enable/download this electra player?
u can enable the Electra Player in Plugins → Media Players … and set the media player after an restart to the codec … thats all
Electra Player is stuck at “Buffering” for me. Default Media Player plays .avi files (rendered with sequencer), but not h.264 MP4 files (re-encoded with ffmpeg).
Thanks, Electra works great, no issuesplaying mp4 here with dx12 enabled. CHeers!
same sad
Same problem here , still in 5.02
Hi all! Enabling Electra Player from plugins works for me! Thanks u all!!
Lucky! I still cannot get PNG sequences to load regardless of if im using DX 12/11/Vulkan, default media player, or Electra. All gives me black screens
Thinking i’ll have to revert back to UE4 for my projects that need to import png sequence, which is a real shame.
Same problem.
USB WebCam shows black screen in DX12. DX11 worked.
Same here, can’t make it work on .03
Says the issue is fixed but still getting it in UE 5.0.3
EDIT: Scratch that says it will get fixed in 5.1.
Electra on DX12 worked out great here as well.
The only downside is Electra is limited to a very specific file format and they have to be created with streaming mp4 in mind.
I managed to fix it by going to DX11 to get around the DX12 bug but ended up going to Electra because the seeking in the native Media Player is terrible on certain files.
quick update … since 5.1 the default media decoder is working in DX12 as expected.
and a new Media Player Actor was added:
Media Plate
Previously, streaming media in your scene required manually mapping together elements using Blueprints. You can now add the Media Plate actor element directly to your Scene instead, which takes care of all the underlying connections.
To confirm with Jungleboy,
In UE 5.1, when i initially played it on dx12 it didn’t work, however, i changed to dx11, played the media then again went back to dx12 and it worked.
So in case u still see an issue, please try this method.
maybe something with the shade cache on your side ?
I had nothing to change… even the Electra Player i used (.0x) before as default player was set in the media player back to auto decoder.
On the end it works again … thats most important
