Media Framework Documentation for 4.5 Preview

I’m able to get video to play on just about anything in the 1st person shooter template, but I’m unable to get it to work in my paper2d project. Any ideas?

Me too please if you can help either showing chroma keying or how you masked it using the separate blk and white video??

Earlier in the thread it was mentioned no xbone support until 4.8, is PS4 support in yet or is that also 4.8+?

I am working on getting a AV stream from a live source in the engine. I was using 4.8 on github and now am switching to preview1. Is there a reason that a m3u8 ( HLS ) or mpd ( DASH ) streams from http are not recognized?

In after effects you can choose to just render the black/white alpha mask.

Has anyone successfully figured out a good pipeline for getting video with transparency into UE4?

This process used to be so easy with UDK and .bink and with that process I would export videos of people keyed out from greenscreen in after effects and convert a .mov with an animation codec, retaining the alpha, with bink rad video tools. In the material editor I would have the bink video texture with it’s alpha going to opacity and setting the blend mode to translucent. It worked, it was great.

With UE4 we no longer have bink which is great because we can bring video files straight in but I’m struggling to find a video format that will hold an alpha which isn’t massive (2GB for 20 seconds of 1024x1024 is bonkers). My workflow right now is similar to what I used to do with UDK except now I have to do uncompressed AVIs with an alpha since UE4 won’t recognize .movs with an animation or png codec. The process with the AVIs works good and the transparency looks a lot better than using a separate black/white matte but they are huge.

Has anyone else come up with a solution?

Hi I am having problems syncing the rgb and alpha so they play / loop on the same timing.

My approach would be to make an alpha,RGB side by side video stream, then recombine the channels in the material editor. (Can you send the material through the material editor?)

Any ETA for finally fixing the issue that videos do not play in a packaged project on someone else computer?

This is so basic that makes me wonder why isn’t it done yet?

No updates yet, just a few bug fixes here and there. No ETA on new features/improvements - we’re still busy on Sequencer and other things.

I’m experiencing weird artifacts with media player on gear VR (and not on normal android applications). Anybody had the same issue?

Also, is there any event telling me a video (e.g. a streaming one, or a local one) has finished playing?

Any performance improvements in 4.10?

I’m not aware of such issues, but our QA team will try to repro it.

4.10 will contain performance improvements for PS4. We didn’t have time for any other platforms yet, but Windows and Android are next on the list - hopefully for 4.11.

Wow, that’s gonna be a long wait, this is kind of a dealbreaker with gearvr. Any help about the artifacts I reported would be useful anyway, thanks.

Are there still issues with XboxOne or am I overlooking something? Don’t see any CL’s talking about it in the Engine/Plugins/Media folder.

Any Audio update? We’re still not getting audio playback in 4.10. Is that an mp4 encoding issue - or an unreal engine problem? Advice either way appreciated…

What about the video end event? Is that coming any time soon?
