-Turning a prop from 0 degrees to 180 degrees around the Up Axis in the Transform Box -
I have been using the transform box in details to manually set rotation, so theres a bit of an adjustment period going on.
Increasing the Up rotation value now rotates a prop to the left
The Up axis value is locked between -90 to 90 degrees
180 degrees Left, 0 degrees Up, 180 degrees Forward, replaces the old Z 180, a bit mind boggling when you’ve become hardwired XYZ for 30+ years, hopefully soon I’ll grow the muscles needed to think that way and actually understand/visualise it.
A lot of props have been autocorrected to rotations 180,0,-180, I’m suppressing the OCD urge to go and manually change, possibly 10,000 of them to 180,0,180. , he he
A better alternative to 180,0,180 is to use Scale by setting it to -1, 1,-1
It looks better, it’s easier to understand flipping and maybe uses less memory.
Once a Prop has been flipped on the Left and Forward, its now facing backwards so you can then rotate its up axis -90 to 90 on the backside.
Keypad time vs rotate Gizmo time… Well I guess its time to use the Gizmo and start rotating stuff to help visualise the new system and enter into a speedy recovery from XYZ lock.
The maths in general does feel cleaner, rotational anomalies from detaching non 0 and 180 degree props from prefabs has disappeared.
