Some users will have to run the Launcher as admin to download updates and content. It shouldn’t be required to just start the editor. Could you provide your ‘Verbose Logs’? Follow the 10 steps at the bottom of this link and post them here.
Hi, attached is short run of launcher with very verbose log file. I still have all logs from when i installed UE. The only log file created as Administrator is the one where i used it to clear this problem. I thought maybe i had run Launcher as Admin the very first time. I could just manually change the permissions on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EpicGames to have Full Controll for all users.
ps (i will be away from computer till monday)
Sorry i read too fast. I do not need Run As Administrator to start the Launcher. As far as i can tell, the Launcher was doing fine w/o those registry keys. I saw them in logs on unrelated issue and was fixing just in case of corner case issue. I’ll manually change the permissions on “EpicGames” and “Epic Games” registry entries to have Full Control for all users.
Getting to your two questions, you installed just fined and you shouldn’t have to run as admin unless you’re working with the original 4.0 engine! Sorry for the long delay in response and I hope that answers all your questions.
