Inside Unreal: Welcome To Unreal Engine 5 Early Access

Are you guys looking into giving post processing an overhaul? Higher quality bloom, lens flares, chromatic aberration, native support for .cube files comes to mind.

… open up a 3rd person project, and after all shders are compiled and everything is fine, you get 25fps.
That’s a real nice improvement…

I’ll have to dig into figuring out why a BAKED map is not running at 120FPS like prior engine versions, but this doesn’t really bode well for UE5.

Why is it taking so long for the Sample content to create a project? I mean I get that it’s over 106 gig, but my computer isn’t a cheap one and when I open task manager I have five or six Epic Web Helpers open. WTH is that about? The new shader compiler or what?

I noticed that too. I used to run above 200fps and it can barely handle 80.

Am I missing something important here?

For the sample project, can you please make a sample that is MacOS compactable? I can’t open the project because it on Window compatible.

Dunno. The funny thing is that the template runs almost exactly as bad as the full demo they released along with it, except the demo has actual reasons for the performance to be bad while the templates really do not.

For UE5 Developers! =)
UE5-Main Branch was uploaded with errors in the Git. I mean, I compared two versions of files and found a difference between files from Main-branch versions and Perforce main-branch versions (also UE5 EA branch on Git different from Main).

For expamle FontTypes.h (Engine\Source\Runtime\SlateCore\Public\Fonts\FontTypes.h) in main branch on git have no code lines that exist on EA branch.

Is this a known problem? And when it will be fixed? =(

I had an issue opening up the Sample Project (Valley of the Ancient) from the Unreal Project Browser, it would load, stick at 83%, it cut out all my USB inputs (they restarted?) and then it crashed. Took a while too. (Win 10, Geforce RTX 2060, project was on external ssd)

However, I was able to open by going directly to the folder and double clicking the .uproject. It also loaded very quickly that way. overall, amazing wizardry, the possibilities are cosmic.

I installed unreal engine 5.0, but it is taking a long time to compile the shaders, when I started a new blank project, until mometo it’s 4h already, it started with 1688 in 4h this with 575 compilers, this is normal - i3 9100f 16GB ram GT740 2 Gb GDDR5
