When you start up the project on an unlicensed machine it should just give you the option to disable the plugin in that instance without any crashes. Do you have any info about the crash you are getting? Anything in the logs etc. I will test on this end. (Also, make sure you are using the latest version of the plugin for your version of unreal from our site. There were some bug fixes that could have been the issue).
As an immediate work around, make sure there is a copy of the plugin in the project for everyone who uses the project. They will be prompted to enter a key when they load unreal, just accept the trial license that it defaults to. If the license has expired, the project will still load but with all RunTime features disabled.
I would love to provide more info to the crash, but we actually already installed the plugins (trial version) on all machines as I noticed myself that the project no longer crashed after installing it. I’ll search the logs to see whether I can find anything related to that crash.
One thing I can say for sure is that we already were using the latest version of the plugin in UE 4.14.3. I didn’t test it, but I would have guessed just deleting the plugin should actually have been enough to get the project open again. Just in case someone runs into the same problem.
It’s nice seeing that this workaround is fine. We couldn’t have afforded to pay 500£ for a student project… So thank you very much.
Hey sorry for taking so long, just had confirmation.
Basically if you go over the Indie threshold during development (for example you receive funding that pushes you over the $80K US threshold) you will have to upgrade your license from the initial Indie license if you wish to carry on using RunTime.
If you release the game with an Indie license and you were under the Indie threshold during development, but go over the threshold post launch in revenue, you do not have to pay for anything unless you are continually developing (DLC/Updates/other projects etc.) using RunTime.
I’m curious to know more about Ikinema’s support for multiplayer/networked play. The scenario would be a VR game where players would use full IK body avatars. Are there any limitations or possible impediments to take into account regarding network support? Could you share some information about this?
Hey, there are no issues with solving in a networked/multiplayer setting that we are aware of. A number of our clients have implemented it successfully.
If you exceed that indie limit in revenue then you will need a Team or Studio license for your next game if you wish to use RunTime.
So RunTime includes support for IK solving from traditional Vr game appliances namely a HMD and 2 motion controllers (3 points - head and hands). Our newest product orion supports full body solving from 6 rigid bodies and is a separate entity from RunTime.
Support for source builds isn’t included under the RunTime Indie licensing. Team and studio licenses do support source builds and also come with access to our source code integration repo and an NDA to guard it. You can e-mail [EMAIL=“”] for licensing queries.
**-IKinema **i can say that you have made a big crime ! Many people paid you a lot money for this plugin. For example i m single developer and i give you some of my last money to support you and to enjoy of your plugin .
In the agreed licensing terms there is no option that say the product will be no longer available after a year or two . Now my license have to be reset and i try to contact you on the support email so many times and after a 3 weeks i got message that say :
Hello
Please be advised that your licence has expired and IKINEMA is no longer be offering our RunTime middleware for sale.
Many Thanks
IKINEMA Support Team
What mean expired ? In the license terms there is nothing like this …
Why ??? Where in the license terms is written that the product will stop work after a year or two ?? So many people have supported you with buying the plugin and now you treat them like a garbage …
Can you image how hard is to remove your plugin from the project that is almost 90% complete ? How many things we have to change .how time we will lost … This is not fair , is not fair …
