How to change the character hanging in the air for a certain distance

Hey
Does the “hanging in the air” happen on editor as well?
By default unreal animations look like that when opened with the animation preview but work correctly in gameplay.

If that happens in editor/gameplay too then it’s most likely that the animation was exported with an offset in Z axis.
That can also happen if you have different Skeletal LODs. Often a lower resolution LOD makes that kind of popping.
