Like @jay001020 explained above, the character blueprint has non changeable features that don’t work for every use case so making a pawn is the way to go! Good luck in learning blueprints, and I hope this is (combined with the above) is the solution you need!

The fundamentals and setup are essentially the same, you just need to use the new Enhanced Input Action Mappings if you are using UE 5.1 as the old action mapping was just depreciated. Here is a non-Epic affiliated video on setting them up:
