Yes, world machine is excellent. I did test, among others, L3DT, TerreSculptor and World Machine, the last one gave the best results. Be carerfull with large terrains: World Machine eats your memory up at no time! And keep in mind that the free version of World Machine does allow a maximum size of 513 x 513 which is certainly not enough for your overlay texture. Unfortunately a commercial license is somewhat expensive compared to the other tools (TerreSculptor is in Beta and currently free with all features). In general, terrain generators are good at creating large terrains. For more detailled terrains looking realistic from a ground perspective you need to combine the terrain with detail meshes (rocks etc).
Yeah I read that. I think the 90 dollar version was the go.

But I found the UI of world machine to be quite friendly, even though it did look like the UI from a program from the 1990’s lol, which I kinda like, gives me a blast from the past.
