I’m also developing a VR-only game and would like to eventually release it on EGS.
While developing VR titles in the past (using Unreal 4), Steam VR would automatically start when the game was launched. This happened even when the game wasn’t launched from Steam in development builds so I would assume it’s the same now. For Oculus headsets, I’m pretty sure the game starts in VR if the headset is connected to the PC already.
I’m guessing that the VR-only game restriction is based on the restriction for games requiring multiple processes to be launched. If the user launches the VR software prior to launching the executable, wouldn’t this allow VR-only games to be published on EGS in the interim?
I could be wrong, but I don’t think users will care too much if they have to connect their headset manually prior to launching a VR game.
