I am trying to generate some high resolution Ortho images of some 11th century sculpture. The model looks high resolution and the imagery was taken in High Resolution pretty close to the sculpture. When I create and ortho photo it looks very pixelated. Not sure what I am doing wrong. To start with I reconstructed the model in normal detail then colourised it and then textured it.
You can set the “X” and “Y” dimension of the image from the settings…I also found my defaults produce almost a blocky 8 bit image, but you can increase it to 4000 x 3000 or whatever…
in the Ortho projection tool, Width and Height (outside the Info group) defines the resolution of the rendered projection. When changing one of these parameters, the other parameter and the Ortho pixel size will be recomputed accordingly to preserve the aspect ratio defined by the reconstruction region.
If you are not sure how to define the resolution of an orthographic projection, RealityCapture will calculate the optimal parameters with respect to the properties of a selected model using the ‘Estimate optimal resolution’ function.
Also resolution of an ortho projection depends on the resolution of the texture. If the result of an ortho projection is not good enough, try to unwrap your model with different settings to raise the resolution of the texture and texture again.
Still struggling with this. I have just done another model. The photography was close and hi resolution and combined it with scan data fro a P40. Resolution wasn’t great in the Ortho after using the estimate button. I have re done the model in High Detail but now it wont do the Orthos at all?
