The HQ-16 medium-range air defense missile (HQ-16) is an air defense missile weapon developed by the People's Republic of China, primarily used to intercept tactical aircraft, anti-ship missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, etc. It is an air defense missile adopted by both the navy and the army, including the naval ship-borne version and the army vehicle-mounted version. The HQ-16 missile fills the gap between the HQ-7 short-range air defense missile and the HQ-9 medium-to-long-range air defense missile. The export version of the HQ-16 is the LY-80 (Hawk-80).
