Hello there,
I am new here and I just wanted to ask if this spec will be sufficient enough for a beginner to build some small scope games: Ryzen 2600 six-core 3400 MHz, 16 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB RAM.
What component should I upgrade in the first place when I will want to work on some larger projects ?
This is fine to start with.
What you update next will depend on how you use the engine.
Greetings @Zorpak
Welcome to the Unreal Engine forums! As Clockwork mentioned, the part you upgrade first depends on what you’re wanting to work on. The 2060 is still a pretty solid GPU. The RAM upgrading to 32 or 64 would make a big difference as would a new CPU. But, it’s kind of personal preference depending on what you’re currently working on. I hope this helps!
My target when I learn the engine is to make games like:
Death’s Door
The Last Campfire
And also: Tunic, Dredge …
All in all: games with not so advanced graphics, focused rather on the story / puzzles / combat and kept at reasonable scope.
Will this setup be sufficient enough to do it?
It will be fine, although you might need to restart the editor periodically if you’re checking out a lot of textures. That’s because the 6GB on the GPU is a little low.
